My 1st Years personalised demin jacket & baby clothes review
I first clapped eyes on the gorgeous brand that is My 1st Years when I attended the Christmas in July event in London. Oh, those were the glory days – footloose, fancy-free and living in the capital with nothing but a huge bump getting in the way (I gave birth to my daughter the following month).
The first thing about My 1st Years that caught my attention was the Tiffany-esque duck egg packaging. Second, I rather loved the fact that these personalised pieces from My 1st Years were more like keepsakes than standard throwaway baby grows.
Fast-forward to the birth of Hannah, and a friend gave her a personalised sleepsuit from My 1st Years. I’ve still kept the box two years on and it now houses baby Ishaaq’s little hats and socks.
A mum again for the second time, I’ve become reacquainted with the brand. My 1st Years recently gifted me (well, my babies) a personalised ultimate baby essentials gift set and an adorable personalised rainbow denim jacket. You can see my daughter boycotting my unboxing here.
The My 1st Years personalised ultimate baby essentials gift set includes:
- A 3 pack of star dribble blankets
- A 3 pack of plain bodysuits
- Baby wipes from Kit + Kin
- A selection of Kit + Kin nappies in sizes to fit babies at every age.
Now in reverse numerical order (coz that’s how I roll) I’ll start with the My 1st Years personalised rainbow denim jacket. Well, it couldn’t be cuter. It’s one of the top sellers at My 1st Years and I could totally see why. I really wish they’d do one for my age and that it would be socially appropriate to wear one. It’s made from organic cotton, so is incredibly soft to touch and provides some much-needed reassurance as I’m always particular about the materials Hannah wears on her skin (she has eczema, and you can read about my tips for treatment here).
The demin jacket is a generously sized 2-3 years so I know she’ll get good use out of it. Not only is the rainbow design adorable, it’s very well-timed as she happily points out that there is a rainbow in all our neighbours windows (and our own) as well as on her jacket.
My 1st Years – the difference is in the quality
Baby Ishaaq’s vests are also really good quality and you can tell the difference between them and more budget baby clothes (yes, really). I’ve bought lots of throwaway vest and grows because, let’s be honest, they’ll be pooped and puked on most of the time. I have noticed with the cheaper items, though they have adorable designs, the colour does fade after a few washes. Again, this is fine as they are often thrown away and babies grow like grass, but it’s nice when you occasionally have something that is built to withstand rigorous use. That way you have a keepsake or a nice hand-me-down.
The same goes for the dribble bibs. They’re thicker than traditional muslin and designed for the daily washes that come with the territory. Though I think the one that’s got Ishaaq’s name on isn’t going to be used to mop up any sick possets. That’s one for the memory box.
Is there a My 1st Years discount code?
If you look around online, there are often My 1st Years discount codes floating around. Just be sure to check they’re still valid. My 1st Years also had a sale running and you can get a gorgeous luxury gift box with all orders over £25.
So if you’re looking to gift someone or treat yourself after a new arrival, My 1st Years is a nice little bit of luxury that you can keep hold of way beyond the first years.
