My Valentine’s Day makeup – fuss free and easy

February 15, 2015
Is it a surprise that my Valentine’s Day makeup is anything but fuss-free and easy to do?? I thought not…
Now without sounding like an old married lady, Valentine’s Day almost came and went without any significance this year.
Unlike the Paris trip of two years ago, this Valentine’s was more of a ‘say it with flowers’ kinda occasion. (Tesco flowers at that, but I’m not complaining).

But while it’s so easy to get comfortable and not make an effort these days, I figured I should at least make some attempt at presentation. So in my slightly half-baked way, I created an easy, autumnal makeup look which worked nicely with my cosy knitwear (hey it’s winter, what do you expect?).

Given the fact that this look was worn for a day out in cold London, it worked really well, and didn’t look odd paired with my big beret.
The key to this look was a bright base, loaded lashes and muted lips.
The bright base was achieved by mixing my Vie at Home highlighter with Manuka Doctor CC cream. I then applied this across the cheekbone area.

The eyeliner was thick. Lashes were doubled with Collection’s Little Mix mascara to lengthen, and layered with Rimmel for thickness.
Lips were kept minimal, I mixed a nude MUA shade with a red colour to create a bitten lip look.
And of course, I finished my winter friendly makeup look with my trusty beret.
So the look was effortless (read minimal effort) understated and chic). If you’d like to see a video tutorial on this. Let me know in the comments section.
What about you? Did you get glammed up this V Day, or did you keep it simple?
