This weekend I discovered a hidden gem, which was actually right under my nose! On a trip back to Manchester, I went to the Ash Tea Rooms Stockport, a cute and quaint little hideaway for afternoon tea.
The tea room also has a huge chocolatier, which does everything from personalised birthday cakes, to Easter eggs and every kind of chocolate you can imagine.

There is also a wedding cake room, as well as more preserves, oils and cakes you can shake a stick at.
Preserves and and jams galore
Of course, we were there for one thing only, their afternoon tea.
Delicious filo prawns
The filo prawn tails were yum, though I wasn’t so keen on the humous as if was served cold.
However the big treats were the scones, which no afternoon tea is complete without, and the Madeira cake, which was one of the nicest I had.
You can either have your tea in or outdoors on the lawn. And I have to admit, the clientèle was a little older, so if perhaps say it’s one to take your mum to, rather than your girlfriends. And with Mother’s Day around the corner, the Ash Tea Rooms Stockport might make for a nice day out.
I think that the added attractions of the bespoke chocolate and prepared jams make it worth an explore, rather than just a sit down visit.
So if you live up north or are in the area, treat your mum to some tea and cake at The Ash. She’ll love you for it.
